NAMI BASICS

NAMI Basics offers education and support. Taught by parents who have lived similar experiences with their own children, NAMI Basics is an educational program that provides learning and practical insights for families.

NAMI Peer to Peer

Peer to Peer is a FREE, 10 session class to help adults living with mental health challenges achieve and maintain wellness. Information is included on conditions such as depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia and borderline personality disorder, among others.

NAMI Family to Family

Family to Family not only provides critical information and strategies for taking care of the person you love, but you’ll also find out that you’re not alone. The group setting of NAMI Family-to-Family provides mutual support and compassion from people who understand your situation.

NAMI BASICS

own children, NAMI Basics is an educational program that provides learning and practical insights for families.
Course elements include:

      • The trauma of mental illness for the child and the family
      • The biology of mental illness: getting an accurate diagnosis
      • The latest research on the medical aspects of the illness and the advances in treatment
      • An overview of treatment options – treatment works
      • The impact of a child’s mental illness on the rest of the family – caregivers and siblings
      • An overview of the systems involved in caring for children and teens

The course consists of six classes that meet for 2-1/2 hour sessions.
Two sessions per day—three Saturdays
*Lunch is included

NAMI Family to Family

Family to Family not only provides critical information and strategies for taking care of the person you love, but you’ll also find out that you’re not alone. Recovery is a journey, and there is hope. The group setting of NAMI Family-to-Family provides mutual support and shared positive impact—you can experience compassion and reinforcement from people who understand your situation. You can also help others through your own experience. In the program, you’ll learn about:

  • How to manage crises, solve problems and communicate effectively
  • Taking care of yourself and managing your stress
  • Developing the confidence and stamina to provide support with compassion
  • Finding and using local supports and services
  • Up-to-date information on mental health conditions and how they affect the brain
  • Current treatments, including evidence-based therapies, medications and side effects
  • The impact of mental illness on the entire family

NAMI Peer to Peer

NAMI Peer to Peer is a FREE, 10 session class to help adults living with mental health challenges
achieve and maintain wellness. Information is included on conditions such as major depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders,schizophrenia and borderline personality disorder among others. Participants leave NAMI Peer-to-Peer with a customized relapse prevention plan and a form they can use to create their own Advance Directive for Mental Healthcare Decision Making. Peer to peer features discussion and interactive exercises focusing on mindfulness and meditation, relapse prevention and healthy copying skills to cope with life’s challenges.
Classes are FREE and confidential.
Classes are open to any adult living with mental illness.
