Deborah Cano retired as a nurse after 40 years of service.   She was inspired to join NAMI in September, 2020 when  when a family member developed a mental health condition.  Deborah is also a tireless advocate for civil rights and social justice, especially where health and justice issues impact the BIPOC community.  She is active in Spokane NAACP, Hispanic Business Professional Organization, Spokane Coalition of Color and Kingdom for Christ Ministries.  Deborah feels compelled to advocate for improvement within the criminal justice and health care systems as they impact people with mental health conditions.  She is currently working to onboard new volunteers.

We at NAMI Spokane are so appreciative of her efforts. Thank you so much Deborah!
